"But don't question their integrity, no, don't do that." [This is a classic example of what is referred to as rampant "political correctness."]

What started with break dancing & mild rhymes, as a way to voice an opin & expression of discontent, oppression, & angst, eventually gave way to the base nature that overrides & often overcomes all boundaries & societies, similar to what punk & metal were originally, etc...that rebellious, fly in the face of convention, in your face, lowbrow, screw-you mentality that eventually pervades & goes overboard & awry. It also becomes about the perception of proving to others that one has worldly power & glory, & amassing much wealth $, no matter how it is appropriated [illegally or not]. It is the pervasive "shock-jock, trash-talk show" mentality that is so popular amongst the ignorant & misled. Whuich is why the youth buy this stuff up by the dumploads. Parents are ='ly as guilty. Wake up, peeps. Sign of the times.

The African-American culture has given us some of the greatest music on earth...& now, also the worst, IMHO. [I'm not talking about some of the hip-hop / funky groove elements themselves.] Much of BET has largely also now gone eMpTyV [& I'm also not talking about jazz, gospel, funk, soul, motown, blues, or RnB - which indeed contain some of the greatest art forms evar].

But many clear-thinking & successful black Americans & abroad are now also stepping up & speaking out about it's inherent evils.

But the same can be said about many other color & cultures as well. Caucasians included in a big way. Oh dear. I'm busting politically [in]correct, here. Sorry.

I was in the gym the other day and they had MTV2 on and they were playing rap videos and I was just watching it and wondering what in the hell was the POINT of it!

It's pathetic. But don't question it, nope, it's a valid art form according to smart people.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Thanks. Since I teach drums fulltime, I made a habit of taking up half a lesson with every student to talk about the bull of Ashlee Simpson. I may even go a step further and not accept kids who like her, or fire ones who do. I am serious. I had one student who said she liked her and the day after was SNL. The next week I asked her if she still liked her and she wasn't too impressed, but she still listens to the album-She's BRAINWASHED.

You know, when you are kidnapped by a serial killer and you are dehumanized. It's kinda like Ashlee Simpson's music.

I will never let this topic go until Ashlee is dropped from her label. I was thinking of going to her show in DC and standing outside with a big poster proclaiming the ultimate scam.

Something has to be done. We must all unite. I still ditch Ashlee Simpsons CDs behind other crap when I go to target.

I gotta say i laughed my ass off w/ flamtriplets comments. he's bustin his ass to make ends meat while ashlee, and let's not forget her plastic sister, are going through all of these gyrations that make them "singers"
